super sisters

one of the superhero shows i am following as of late is supergirl. at first i did not want to watch the show anymore since i was already watching arrow, the flash, and of course law and order: svu and bones among others. but after watching the pilot, well, one can say i got hooked again. aside from the kick-ass fight scenes and the story in general, one other aspect of the show that really got me watching is the sister dynamic. i am amazed at alex and kara's interactions, how they are so affectionate towards each other with all their banter, teasing, and arguing, and how they got each other's backs when times get rough. they're big on hugs too! 

i especially like how alex goes big sister on kara most times. it's not everyday a girl gets an alien sister and appreciates her for who she is even when feelings of envy and low self-esteem encroach at times. which is why when alex needed comforting, the tables get turned and kara is right by her side in an instant. that much is shown in supergirl's latest episode, solitude. i could really feel the heavy emotions emanating from them, especially from alex who had to keep her killing astra a secret from kara for quite sometime. i can only imagine how hard is that for alex.
