super bad

note: some spoilers ahead so anyone who drops by here and hasn't watched the latest episode of supergirl, please skip this or read at your own risk. and oh. please excuse the super fangirling. i enjoyed the episode A LOT! hahaha cheers!

Soooooo. All that happened on Supergirl's 16th episode, Falling, were very unexpected. Especially since I did not get to watch the previews. Raised my brows several times, got wide-eyed, and even yelled out in turns in most of the episode as Kara embraced her dark side after being exposed to red kryptonite.

Melissa Benoist gave a spectacular performance in this episode. Her portrayal of Kara is so, so different, which proves what a versatile actress she is. For in the instances when Kara got mad in some previous episodes, I could not help but notice that her face still looked what we call in Filipino maamo--meek and gentle. It was like she hated being angry at people she loved that I wanted to reach into the television and give her a hug and tell her everything's going to be all right. Because hey, let's face it, Kara is the kindest person one will ever meet on TV.

Now the Kara in Falling was a totally different story however. Her eyes were downright cold. She indeed showed everyone in National City how bad she can really get--getting Siobhan sacked, scaring Cat Grant 40 storeys to death, practically wrecking her potential relationship with James, slacking on her D.E.O. duties, turning on her beloved sister Alex, and basically turning into the enemy everybody fears.

More gushings on Falling, randomly listed (because really, it was a really great episode and everyone was awesome in it ^_^):
- Cat Grant, no matter how she can be self-centered and bossy, is a boss grounded in admirable work ethics and values. She is exactly the kind of boss I would like to work for. Now with her relationship with Supergirl, I see she also has a forgiving nature even after being thrown off her own building's balcony. Cat hardly ever shows much emotion, but when she does, it has impact and I'm sure that it means a lot to Kara/Supergirl. I loved the last scene where Cat let Supergirl hang around in the balcony for a bit longer.

- When Cat fired Siobhan, I celebrated with Kara by making a fist pump. Hahaha, so bad! Siobhan's leaving CatCo doesn't mean that she's gone from the show, though. I sense something brewing for her and Kara in the next episodes especially after seeing a snippet of Siobhan and Winn in a preview for next week's ep. A cat fight, perhaps?

- Why, oh why did J'onn not escape when he could so easily have? is the question that still keeps running in my head even after watching the episode's rerun for the nth time. What an honourable being he is for thinking of Kara and Alex's safety. I hope he gets out of detainment the soonest.

- The confrontation between Alex and Kara in Kara's apartment was expected, especially when Kara said the bit about Alex killing Astra. I knew that was coming out sooner or later, in this case sooner. Evil smile as Kara laughed very much like a kontrabida. Another evil smile at Kara's line: Look at the city. They worship me. And those who don't---will. That line reeks of pure kontrabida-ness, if you ask me. Ouch at Kara making Alex cry. But no, Kara did not mean it, she was under the Red K's grip. By the way, digging that new kickass Supergirl outfit!

For a while during the fight scene between Supergirl and J'onn I was worried that there might be a part two since there were a lot of things happening in the episode. Good thing it ended with Kara being restored to her usual kind self. The scene where Kara was recovering from the effects of Red K in the D.E.O.'s infirmary was heartbreaking to watch. The first thought that came to Kara's mind was if she killed anyone, and the realisation that she had hurt Alex and everyone else was unfathomable for her even if she did not mean for everything to happen. Oh, Supergirl.

As always, can't wait for the next episode.  :)
