reading: still danzig passage, although i am almost done with it. i can feel every character's terror, worry, desperation, and anguish at every turn of the page. except for the actual events that happened in history, the rest seemed frighteningly real as well! i guess after david baldacci's one summer, this is the second book that turned on the waterworks quite easily. grrrr!
writing: this, and still trying to do the assignment for an online course i am currently taking. so far it's just a bunch of observations and imaginings, but no concrete story yet. i'm just glad that the rest of the tasks do not yet require another rewrite of the story since nooooo i haven't written anything yet.
listening to: nothing at the moment. i want to enjoy the silence that late sunday night brings. of course it's still punctuated by some vehicles passing by overland and in the skies and the occasional bark of the neighbourhood dogs.
thinking: of how i can finally slap that nasty mosquito that's been bothering me for several nights now. it wasn't affected by the insect spray!
smelling: nothing.
wishing: i could get a break from everything. even for just one day. but if it's two days, all the better.
wearing: red tank top.
loving: arnis more and more. heehee.
wanting: still the beach! and also, i ranted last week that the weather has gotten hotter since hanging amihan was practically gone. well, well. just last wednesday night the weather suddenly turned cooler again and it shows no sign of letting up. 25 degrees celsius tonight, baby! looking at accuweather report it seems like the weather will stay the same until the end of this week. which is good! official summer season delayed! lol. and oh. i still want that ten-hour sleep!
needing: i want and i need that ten-hour sleep. i have lost precious hours of sleep this past week (or is that weeks already?) no thanks to those mosquitoes. and yeah i still need to kill that last mosquito flying and buzzing 'round my ears.
feeling: don't know why i feel so tired lately.
that's all! and good night!

sunday currently vol.24
reading: still danzig passage (book 5). this book certainly has a lot more action than the previous one, jerusalem interlude. like duh. it is as interlude-y as interludes come, yet it set the scene for danzig passage.
writing: this, and trying to do an assignment for an online course i am currently taking.
listening to: say you'll be there by the spice girls. and other spice girls songs. and melanie c's songs from northern star ohhhhhh late 90s-early 2000s music... *heart, heart*
thinking: of the whole day arnis event yesterday. how fun it was, how much more i have to learn, and the day that i will get my belt. also the whole body ache i got from the event.
smelling: the minty scent of the oil i slathered over my aching muscles.
wishing: the hanging amihan would still blow strong. but nooooooo.
wearing: black tank top and blue batik print pants.
loving: this weekend. it started with a chillaxing day/night with my girls from college at a hotel, climaxed with the whole day arnis event, and a restful today.
wanting: still the beach! it's getting hotter everyday!
needing: ten-hour sleep isn't asking for much, isn't it? i thought that the exhaustion i felt yesterday would translate to that but noooooooo my body aching actually woke me up after a measly two and a half hours of sleep. and made me lose two extra hours of sleep.
feeling: so tired. i guess i'll try writing that assignment tomorrow instead. hay.

randoms
some things worth noting:
high school reunion that i actually enjoyed and had fun seeing the people i practically grew up with, considering i had a lackluster high school experience. i guess time does heal.
kindness of people. almost had another fainting spell earlier today. in arnis training, of all things. i had to lie down on the edge of a wall (not so high though) to recover and one of the older guys got me a piece of candy. he also accompanied me for a short way until i could board a trike. but there was no trike to be seen so i had to walk home the rest of the way. one of the girls checked up on me later on as well, which was very sweet.
belt. in arnis. of course i have to test for it. and it's on saturday already. what a shock. will still try for it, of course. otherwise i'll have to wait until the next promotion.
that's all!

sunday currently vol.23
reading: danzig passage! so i finally bought the 5th book of the zion covenant series... plus the ninth and last book of the same series. the only books missing then would be the third, seventh, and eighth.
writing: this, and i feel like the day will cross over already. that's for starting this just fifteen minutes before midnight.
listening to: let's hang on! what else? ;P this would be the cover of the manhattan transfer.
thinking: of the things that needed to be done tomorrow.
smelling: nada
wishing: for more slots to be filled
wearing: tank top
loving: grey's anatomy 6th season, arnis, let's hang on! some kids.
wanting: to go to the beach even for a day. although overnight would be better, and spending two nights the best. i need to get out of this stifling city!
needing: junk food.
feeling: ready for battle when i go to the bank tomorrow. even if it means i have to miss the rerun of the "latest"episode of grey's anatomy.
well, well. i be publishing this a good three minutes before midnight! still sunday in my timezone! hahaha what a loser.
good night!

let's hang on! v2
it's been exactly a week since i first heard the song let's hang on! by frankie valli and the four seasons. exactly a week since it got stuck in my head and won't leave even after i've listened to several versions of it over and over and over.
not that i'm complaining, no, far from it. i just love the melody of the song that i actually made a playlist of it. please humour this old girl as she rhapsodises some more on her current lss that has no plans of letting up.
two of the first three versions that i posted in my previous entry (salazar and nancy boyd and the capello's) were released in the '80s while the one from shooting party was released in 1990. salazar's version came out in 1980 and to me it still has tones of 1970s style disco music. nancy boyd's disco version was released in 1987. i love that particular video of it on youtube since everyone seemed to be having fun especially the two backup singers. hahaha.
1990 saw the release of shooting party's version of let's hang on! and quite like salazar, this song sounds like it's from the 80s. yet among all the covers of the song that i've listened to, this one sounds very much like the original, from the vocals to the beat.
barry manilow's cover of the song is a nice surprise. another release from the 1980s, it has a very upbeat tempo and it has all the characteristics of most of the songs that were released in that decade. very 80s. i know, how profound.
the last version in my playlist is that of the manhattan transfer's. it is also the latest cover released in 1995. i enjoy listening to this as it has a latin flavour to it and best of all, frankie valli himself also sang with the group. my favourite line "got a lot o' love between us" sounds so melodious to my ears.
with all these awesome covers, i really would like to hear a version of let's hang on! in this millennium. i imagine the song should have tones of the current musical style.
a toast to the song that started it all.
