day one

gcq now in good old manille after two and a half months of ecq. was apprehensive last night as i expected my neighbourhood to return to the pre-lockdown volume of passing vehicles, aka noise, aka noise and air pollution, aka yuck.

thank God there weren't a lot. there were SO MANY vehicles plying the main road now, though. so many it looked like any ordinary day pre-lockdown. at least it seemed that way to me. le sigh. thank God again that silence is still prevalent tonight.

went to the grocery this afternoon. same thing: temp check, spray alcohol on hands. bought essentials... baking essentials, that is. bread baking barbie in the house, yo! saw and shared an fb post by barbie gets real about quarantine barbies... can definitely relate to two of 'em: what day is it? barbie and of course, baking bread barbie! so me lately. i've tried baking several yeast breads already which are a challenge to bake stovetop because the result isn't the same as if it is baked in an oven. but needs must, and so bake stovetop it is.

it's monday today. and i thought it was already tuesday. and then sometime last week, i saw a tv ad about rj jacinto's annual birthday sale in his stores, happening on june 5-7. and i was so disappointed because i missed it! an absolute what day is it? barbie moment, yeah???

bartering has been around for centuries. but it hasn't been as popular, at least in this day and age, until now. i like the idea of bartering items because it really helps people get the things they really need (or want) in exchange for the ones they don't anymore.

i still have to rummage through my stuff to barter. my bro and his wife had already bartered their barbecue grill in exchange for some plants, mostly herbs. can't wait to go about my own bartering experience. goodness knows how much i need to purge unused stuff already.

it's day one of gcq and there were so many people out to make a living once more. day one and there's no adequate, proper public transportation for them.

day one of being affected by the economic downturn. haven't really accomplished anything of value except that short grocery run.

day 9,765,139 of inner turmoil peppered with spurts of optimism.
